Big Boy

Finally! I've been intending to post this for the past three days, but I have been so tired that when I DID have the time, I'd completely forget to. So here's me, remembering. I had this little, spontaneous photo shoot in our backyard with Micah and it turned out some of the best photos I've shot yet. I am so excited. Could it be that I am actually improving???

Enjoy!

...He's been doing a LOT of this lately. :D

There were more in this series but I haven't edited them yet. I'll share once that's done. :)

Random Fact #4

It is a bad idea to burst in on my two boys (one of which is playing zombie games, and one of which is contentedly snacking on cheerios) whilst singing at the top of my lungs.

Celebrations

Scott and I celebrated two years of marriage on Sunday so we could have more time with it. We left Micah at a friend's house and another friend at church offered for us to use their canoe! We gladly accepted the offer. So, after church, we handed the baby off, got pizza, ate it in the blissful quiet of our home, then headed out again to get the canoe.

It was a beautiful day, warm, but not too hot, and a bit overcast. We launched out on the Chena River and paddled up to Pioneer Park, about a two hour ride. We saw lots of birds, and of course there were a lot of other people out on the river. After we'd returned the canoe, we went to the Alaskan Salmon Bake, a very Fairbanks thing to do that we have not yet done. (Well...of course...NOW we've done it because I'm writing in the past tense, so, yeah. Anyway.) The food was delicious, and we sat among tall birch trees, swarms of mosquitoes, and swarms of French people. We decided they must be from Canada since a lot of them had hockey shirts on. (The people, not the mosquitoes.) Ah, Alaska.

All in all, it was such a wonderful day, and of course it was amazing to have a break from the little one.

Sunrise, Sunset

Two years ago today, I stood with my love in front of God, our families, and our pastor, and we committed ourselves to each other for life.

We had our first kiss EVER...

(This was not it. First kiss looked WAY more awkward.)

Had lots of laughs...

Ate cake...

Toasted with champagne...

And went on to have a very happy two years, full of growth, learning, baby things, and falling more and more in love with each other. (*cough* I'm allowed to be sappy on my anniversary *cough*) I am SO very grateful for the time we have had, and for the time God blesses us with in the future years to come.
Happy anniversary, dearest!

"If it's half as good as the half we've known, here's hail! to the rest of the road."

P.S. Do you have the title stuck in your head yet?

Happy Father's Day!

I would love nothing more than to write some mushy, sentimental stuff about Scott and what a great dad he is, and to my dad and how wonderfully blessed I am to have him as my Dad, but, (excuses, excuses) I am so  ridiculously tired I cannot seem to form anything of that sort into even one proper sentence, so I'm just going to write a bunch of words and hope they give you the picture.

Dad -

Godly
Funny
Random
Encouraging
Loving
Generous
Forgiving
Huggable
Humble
Eager
Humorful (Yes, now I've entered the realm of just making up words)
Affectionate
Unique

Scott -

Loving
Tender
Manly (I have to put that after those first two...)
Eager
Kind
Patient
Forgiving
Willing
Caring
Happy
Affectionate
Makes Micah laugh (now I can't even think hard enough to come up with just one word)
Playful
Genuine

I love you both very much.

And to all you other dads out there as well...happy Father's Day!

Random Fact #3

My husband has an amazing affinity to the rumble strips on the sides of the road. Whether he's driving completely awake or trying to stay awake, he is drawn to them like babies to electric sockets.
